Alfeld, Niedersachsen

Alfeld, just a few miles south of Hildesheim, lies on the right bank of the river Leine at the foot of the Seven Hills (Sieben Berge). The old town is dominated by the twin towers of the 15th century Gothic church St. Nicholas. Nearby is the Old Latin School (Alte Lateinschule; 1610) with rich figural decoration. Today it houses the Heimatmuseum and Stadtmuseum.
