Bad Urach, Schwäbische Alb

Bad Urach, in the Swabian Alps, is a small medieval town located in the valley of the Erms. It is known as a Spa and has many half-timbered houses as well as several ornate medieval restaurant signs. Since Urach is rather distant from the ocean, the sign with the mermaids is a curious one. While the "cabbage patch doll" craze was going strong in the US, no such shortage of dolls was evident in Germany [as you can see in the showcase window]
