EttlingenEttlingenEttlingen, just south of Karlsruhe, is a pleasant little town with some nice older buildings, a market and a castle which now houses a school and a local museum. Because of the excellent public transportation system, it is practically a suburb of Karlsruhe. In 1975 a civic effort (Altstadtsanierung) led to the renovation of many beautiful half-timbered houses in the center of town. You can see some of those by clicking on the link below.
A few miles SW of Ettlingen, near Rastatt [actually near Kuppenheim], you will find the delightful little castle Favorite built for the Duchess Sibylla Augusta.
