Noyon

Noyon, the birthplace of the Protestant reformer Jean Calvin (1509 - 1564), is also the home of one of the finest examples of the early gothic cathedrals. The Cathédrale de Notre-Dame, dating from 1150, is the fifth to be built on this site and was finished by 1290. It is an excellent example of the transitional style (from Romanesque to Gothic) of the 12th and 13th centuries. (Plans and drawings)
