The château of Langeais is rather unpretentious compared to its more famous neighbors. It was constructed by Louis XI in just five years, from 1465 to 1469. Hardly any alterations have been done since. The castle is noted primarily for the marriage of Charles VIII and his childbride Anne of Brittany, which took place in 1491 in the Salle du Marriage. As you can see below, the room is decorated with intricate tile floors, carved chests and a fine collection of 15th- and 16th-century Flemish and Aubusson tapestries.
