Autun was founded in the late 1sth centrury BC and was a great center for learning. Today it is noted for its gastronomie and its Romanesque cathedral St.-Lazare, which was built in the 12th century. Of particular importance are the sculptures and tympanum by Gislebertus. I especially liked the "Last Judgment" tympanum over the main portal.
