Riquewihr (Reichenweier)

Riquewihr, a few miles NW of Colmar, is one of the prettiest, well preserved villages along the wine road, the Route du Vin. It abounds in cobbled stone streets, geranium-clad balconies, galleried courtyards and watchtowers. The town is surrounded by vineyards which produce Tokay, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Rieslings. On the upper end of town you'll find the Dolder, a 13th century gatetower.
